Postponed to January 28 - Art: History & Hands - Art Project - Chauvet In-Person

The library is sponsoring a series with local artist and gallery-owner Margret Baldwin. Each month, Margret will host an art history film screening, and on the following Saturday, will host an optional, hands-on related workshop.

This month, the topic covered is Chauvet, a cave in France with some of the best preserved figurative cave paintings in the world.  The film screening will be Cave of Forgotten Dreams on Friday, January 27 at 6:30 p.m., and the workshop will be Cave Painting held on Saturday, January 28 at 5:00 p.m..

Cave of Forgotten Dreams is a documentary by Wener Herzog that examines and films inside of France's Chauvet Cave, where the walls are covered with the world's oldest surviving paintings.

These events are free and open to all, however, space is limited for the hands-on art workshop and registration is required. Registration can be done using the library's online calendar. For more information, please contact Kayleigh at kayleigh.thomas@bhpl.net or by calling the library at 374-5515.

Margret is a certified art instructor with 25 years in the public school system and private teaching experience. She expanded her exposure to art and artists through her curatorial experience during eight years of employment at the Blue Hill Public Library. She has exhibited widely, and in the summer runs her neighborhood “Little Gallery” in Surry.

This program series is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
