Stargazing with Dark Sky Maine In-Person
Kids of all ages are invited to a stargazing party on Thursday, October 20 at 6:30 PM. Dwight Lanpher of Dark Sky Maine will lead a night sky tour of constellations and visible planets, using a laser pointer and Stellina group-observation station. Participants are invited to bring binoculars if they have them, but they are not required. We will meet at the Blue Hill Mountain Hayes Trail parking lot on the Mountain Road. If the sky is cloudy, the tour will be postponed until Tuesday, October 25.
This program is free and is co-sponsored by the Blue Hill Library and Word, the Blue Hill literary arts festival. Space is limited so registration is required. To register, use the library's interactive calendar or call 374-5515.
Dark Sky Maine is a nonprofit that promotes an appreciation of the night sky through education and by supporting measures that use appropriate lighting to provide security on the ground, promote the health of humans and nocturnal wildlife, while maintaining dark skies overhead.
