Navigating Conflict for Teens and Tweens with Author Rivera Sun

Navigating Conflict for Teens and Tweens with Author Rivera Sun In-Person

From fiction to reality, come explore the journey of navigating conflict. On Wednesday, August 3 at 11 AM, teens and tweens are invited to join author Rivera Sun in the library's Howard Room for a workshop about finding creative solutions to conflict and nonviolent problem solving. Exploring the award-winning fictional novels of the Ari Ara Series, Rivera will use fun, fact, and fiction to guide participants through a series of activities, games, and role-plays. These beginner-friendly exercises will draw from practices in the magical and fantastical world of Ari Ara and tie the path of nonviolence (called The Way Between in the books) to our everyday lives. From fights with friends to arguments with siblings, this workshop is for all of us who have ever needed to find a way between the challenges that can come up in our home, school, and life.

Author/Activist Rivera Sun has written numerous books and novels, including The Dandelion Insurrection and the award-winning Ari Ara Series. She is the editor of Nonviolence News and the Program Coordinator for Campaign Nonviolence. Her articles are syndicated by Peace Voice and published in hundreds of journals nationwide. Rivera Sun serves on the Advisory Board of World BEYOND War and the board of Backbone Campaign. To learn more about Rivera and her work visit her website.
