Tweens and Teens are invited to join Teen Services Librarian Kendall Chapman and Blue Hill Heritage Trust Outreach Coordinator Landere Naisbitt for a summer hiking book club. For the months of June, July and August participants are invited to read a pre-selected book before meeting for a hike on a Blue Hill Heritage Trust trail. The selected books have ties to nature and will relate to our hiking location, which will be discussed at a special spot on the trail.

On Wednesday, July 27 at 2:30 PM, we will be hiking Bluff Head Preserve in Sedgwick to discuss the book Diary of a Young Naturalist by Dara McAnulty. "Diary of a Young Naturalist chronicles the turning of 15-year-old Dara McAnulty's world. From spring and through a year in his home patch in Northern Ireland, Dara spent the seasons writing. These vivid, evocative and moving diary entries about his connection to wildlife and the way he sees the world are raw in their telling portraying Dara's intense connection to the natural world, and his perspective as a teenager juggling exams and friendships alongside a life of campaigning."

Copies of this book will be available to check out in advance at the library, though there will be a limited number of copies for participants to take and keep. Comfortable clothes, shoes, bug spray, sunscreen and water or snacks are recommended to bring with you for the hiking portion of this event. We will meet at Bluffs Head Preserve.
