Canceled: Diverse Universe Teen Book Club: "Lycanthrophy and Other Chronic Illnesses" In-Person

Teens are invited to join Teen Services Librarian Kendall Chapman the Diverse Universe Book Club on Wednesday, October 27 from 4:00-5:00 pm. This book club focuses on a variety of young adult books to help participants gain new perspectives and understanding of the world we live in, including books with themes around mental illness, the LGBTQ+ community, racial equity and more.

This month's selection is Lycanthropy and Other Chronic Illnesses by Kristen O'Neal. Forced to leave Stanford's pre-med program after contracting Lyme disease, Priya finds solace in an online chronic-illness support group and with best friend Brigid, whose own illness may be more unique than Priya suspected. This book takes a humorous and imaginative look at chronic illness, while maintaining the integrity of how it can truly affect people.

Diverse Universe will meet in the Teen Area of the library on the last Wednesday of each month to discuss the reading selection. Copies of the book are available to check out at the library. This program is free and sponsored by the library. For more information contact Kendall at kendall.chapman@bhpl.net or call 374-5515.
