Rising to the Challenge: Whales, Wind and Waves

Rising to the Challenge: Whales, Wind and Waves In-Person

Paul Anderson, Director of Maine Center for Coastal Fisheries will lead a presentation on Thursday, August 5th at 6:30 pm.  He will discuss the work of the Center and how a collaborative and ecosystem approach to science, management and engagement can help fishing communities to be resilient to change. Current events including rules to minimize threats to the endangered Right Whale, offshore wind energy developments, expansion of aquaculture, and other climate-related stressors will be discussed.

Since it originated, Maine Center for Coastal Fisheries has launched many innovative and collaborative programs that create a place where fishermen’s knowledge becomes part of science, and where their voices can become a constructive and creative part of the management dialogue. They have also invested in and engaged the next generation of fisheries stewards.
