Postponed - Hiking Book Club - "Echo Mountain"

Postponed - Hiking Book Club - "Echo Mountain" In-Person

Tweens and Teens are invited to join Teen Services Librarian Kendall Chapman and Blue Hill Heritage Trust for a summer hiking book club. For the months of June, July and August participants are invited to read a pre-selected book before meeting for a hike on a Blue Hill Heritage Trust trail. The selected books have ties to nature and will relate to our hiking location, which will be discussed at a special spot on the trail.

On Wednesday, June 30 at 2:30 PM we'll be hiking part of Blue Hill Mountain to discuss the book Echo Mountain by Lauren Wolk. Echo Mountain is a middle grade historical fiction that follows twelve-year-old Ellie as her and her family relocate to a cabin in the mountains of Maine. Ellie must learn to adapt to life in the wilderness and skills that will keep her and her family alive. Copies of this book will be available in advance to check out at the library. Comfortable clothes, shoes, bug spray and a waterbottle are recommended to bring with you for the hiking portion of this event. We will meet in the big parking lot at the base of the field for the Hayes and Service Rd trail heads off the Mountain Road and hike in together.

All are welcome to join, though space is limited. Register through the library's interactive calendar or by calling 374-5515. This is a free program co-sponsored by the library and Blue Hill Heritage Trust. For more information or if you have any questions, please contact Kendall at kendall.chapman@bhpl.net.
