Maine Poets Reading

Maine Poets Reading Online

The library will host an online poetry reading featuring several Maine poets on Saturday, May 1 at 2:00 PM. Just because Poetry Month is officially over doesn't mean that it's time to stop celebrating the many wonderful writers in our state and local area. At this event, Helen Rousseau of Kennebunk, Nancy Hodermarsky of Deer Isle, and Tim Ensworth of Blue Hill will each share short readings of their work, with time for questions and discussion.

Helen Rousseau is an ordained Interfaith Minister. She was a Catholic nun for thirty years and spirituality and a concern for people has always been central to her life. She was trained in the Amhert Writers and Artists method to lead writing groups. At present, she sees her ministry as writing and leading writing groups, which she has done for twelve years. She is also a published poet. Her first book is Coming to the Edge: Fifty Poems for Writing and Healing, and her latest book of poetry is entitled Poems for a World on Fire: Meditations on Hope. Its focus is on all the major issues of our day including global warming, migrations, and Covid-19. These poems give voice to the earth, its peoples, animals, trees, and all that makes this planet uniquely our home. Her work is infused with an underpinning of hope and a trust in life. To contact Helen or order a book, go to www.helenrousseau.com.

Nancy Hodermarsky lives on Deer Isle. A lifetime in pursuit of love led Nancy to the reading and writing of poetry.

Tim Ensworth is a retired United Church of Christ minister living in Blue Hill. He sings with the Bagaduce Chorale, is on the Board of Directors and serves as webmaster for the Blue Hill Concert Association, and is a member of the Deer Isle Writers Group. He is also an avid hiker, kayaker, and fly fisher.
