Youth Author Event: Ellen Booraem & Deva Fagan

Youth Author Event: Ellen Booraem & Deva Fagan Online

The library will host Maine middle grade authors Ellen Booraem and Deva Fagan for an online discussion of their new books River Magic and Nightingale on Thursday, April 29th at 6:30 PM. Join the two authors as they talk about their new books, their individual writing processes and answer questions from participants. Participants are welcome to ask questions during the Q&A portion of the event, but can also send questions ahead of time to Teen Services Librarian Kendall Chapman at kendall.chapman@bhpl.net.

Ellen Booraem spent nineteen years as a small-town journalist before quitting her day job to write three award-winning fantasies for readers ages ten and older (The Unnameables, Small Persons with Wings, and Texting the Underworld). Her fourth book, River Magic, a fantasy about a girl who has to save her family, is coming out April 27, 2021, from Penguin/Dial Books for Young Readers. In addition to her own writing, Booraem volunteers as a writing coach for students in her local middle school and is a founding organizer for Word, the annual literary arts festival in Blue Hill, Maine. She lives in Brooklin, Maine.

Deva Fagan is the author of Rival Magic, Nightingale, Circus Galacticus and other books for young readers. She lives in Maine with her husband and her dog. When she’s not writing she spends her time reading, playing video games, doing geometry, and drinking copious amounts of tea. Her newest book Nightingale is a middle grade fantasy about an orphan girl who finds herself in the middle of a conflict and learns about the value of friendship.

All are welcome to join in this online event, though space is limited and registration is required. Participants can register to receive the Zoom link through the library's interactive calender or by calling 374-5515. This program is free and sponsored by the library.
