Maine Student Book Award Voting

Maine Student Book Award Voting Online

On Monday, March 15th, Kendall will be discussing The Line Tender by Kate Allen.

Join Teen Services Librarian Kendall Chapman for Maine Student Book Award voting starting Monday, January 25 at 4 PM. Participants will receive a link by email each Monday for the next 10 weeks to a new recording of a book talk presented by Kendall on one of the nominated middle grade or young adult books. All ages are welcome to register to view the videos, but only students in grades fourth through eighth and who have read three or more of the nominated books can cast a vote. Participants are encouraged to read any of the books from the nominee list and submit their own reviews via a mini review sheet that will also be sent in the emails. The ballots are due back to Kendall by Wednesday March 31 and will be submitted on behalf of the Blue Hill Public Library to the Maine Student Book Award committee. To participate, register using the library’s interactive calendar or call the library at 374-5515.

The Maine Student Book Award is awarded annually in the spring to a student selected book, from a list of approximately forty middle grade and young adult books compiled by a committee of teachers, public librarians and school librarians. Books nominated for the award are recently released titles with powerful and important themes in a continuing effort to expand the literary horizons of young readers.
