Postponed: Talking Trash: Municipal WasteHub and Blue Hill's Waste In-Person
This event has been postponed to a later date. Please check back for more information.
What happens to the trash in Blue Hill? Reagan Emmerling, Education and Outreach Coordinator at the Municipal WasteHub, will be at the library on Monday, September 14 at 1:00 p.m. to share the ins and outs of recycling.
Municipa lWasteHub, the organization that manages Blue Hill’s trash, operates a full-service waste/recycling facility. The facility can take in unsorted community waste and use sophisticated machinery to sort the trash to pull any recyclables. This means that they are able to achieve much higher recycling yields than when relying on residential sorting and keep much more waste out of landfills. Reagan will share how each machine works, what materials it recycles, and talk about waste generation and recycling practices in our modern world. The end goal of this presentation is for Blue Hill residents to understand what is happening to their waste, encourage best waste practices, and to promote transparency in the facility.
This program is free and open to the public and will be held in the library's Howard Room. For more information, please contact the library at 374-5515 or email Assistant Director Kayleigh at kayleigh.thomas[at]bhpl.net.
