Older Adult Fraud Prevention: Recognize, Prevent, and Report In-Person / Online

The Blue Hill Public Library and Healthy Peninsula are cosponsoring a talk on fraud prevention for older adults on Wednesday, March 4 at 1PM in the library's Howard Room.

Special Agent Jennifer Misek will speak on recognizing, preventing, and reporting fraud on older adults as part of the Elder Justice Initiative from the Department of Justice. Fraud isn't just a monetary loss, but can be a loss of sense of safety as well. Victims can feel isolated and ashamed. Join us to learn how to help prevent and stop financial fraud and abuse. We will also hear from a Maine local who fell prey to fraudulent victimization and what she learned from this costly experience.

Since joining the FBI in 2016, Special Agent Jennifer Misek has worked in the FBI New York City Field Office, the FBI San Juan, Puerto Rico Field Office, and is currently assigned to the FBI Boston, Bangor Resident Agency. Special Agent Misek currently works criminal matters, to include investigating elder fraud financial crimes.

This program will be hybrid, offered both in-person in the library's Howard Room, and on zoom. Please use the library's online interactive calendar to register, and indicate whether you plan to join in-person or on Zoom.
