Author Event: David Florig In-Person
The Blue Hill Public Library and Blue Hill Books are cosponsoring an author talk with local author David Florig for a talk on his new book Negative Peace on Thursday, March 5 at 7PM in the library's Howard Room.
Negative Peace follows the journey of Joshua Sheehan, a Bucksport, Maine native who rises from Mayor of Bucksport to President of the United States. He has a plan - he wants to create a lasting world peace. It might only be Negative Peace, but it would be a start. What could be any easier? Negative Peace explores themes of trust, conviction, and two different kinds of peace. The Olympic sport of curling also plays a role in the story, and David will discuss both his book and the sport, as well as take questions.
David S. Florig lives in Ocean Park, Maine. He is a member of the Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance, and of the Belfast Curling Club in Belfast, Maine. He is the author of two previous novels, The Stones of Ailsa Craig and The Shattered Curling Stone. The Stones of Ailsa Craig was named Best Historical Fiction of 2023 by Indies Today and was a 2023 Finalist for the American Writing Awards. In 2023, Florig organized and led a group of ninety Maine authors as Maine Authors for Lewiston, who raised money to support victims and families of the tragic events in Lewiston. For years, David practiced law, and following his legal career, he served as Executive Director of the West Philadelphia Alliance for Children. David Florig can be reached at david@davidflorig.com or through his website at www.davidflorig.com.
This program is free and open to all. For more information, please contact the library at 374-5515 or email Assistant Director Kayleigh Thomas at kayleigh.thomas@bhpl.net. Blue Hill Books will be onsite with copies of the book available for purchase.
