Documentary Series: 'Sludge: A PFAS Uprising' Screening In-Person
The Blue Hill Library will sponsor a screening of the documentary Sludge on Wednesday, April 15 at 7:00 p.m. in the library's Pearson Room, as part of the documentary screenings for the Slaven Event series.
Doing the right thing cost them everything. Sludge tells the stories of farmers who are speaking up about “forever chemicals” poisoning their land, water, and livestock, only to lose everything in the process. Who’s to blame? And what’s being done now to ensure our land and water is safe for future generations? Released in late 2024 with a runtime of 26 minutes, Sludge: A PFAS Uprising won best short documentary at the United Nations Association Film Festival.
Sludge is directed by Jeffrey Christian, co-founder of Side Road Media and the director of numerous commercials, branded documentaries, and episodic web series. Along the way, Jeff was honored with two national Edward R. Murrow Awards, 20 regional Emmy Awards, and was runner-up to the National Press Photographers Association's Photographer of the Year. The film's executive producers include Matthew Modine & Adam Rackoff.
This film screening is free and open to all as part of the Robert K. and Linda B. Slaven Events Series, which began in 2020 in recognition of gifts made to the Blue Hill Public Library’s Campaign for Endowment from the Anahata Foundation. The goal of the series is to bring diverse and previously inaccessible events on a variety of topics to the Blue Hill Peninsula.
