Bubble Trouble: Understanding Ocean Acidification

Bubble Trouble: Understanding Ocean Acidification In-Person

Kids ages 5 and up are invited to join Tess from the University of Maine 4-H for a workshop about the ocean on Wednesday, August 20th from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Something is bubbling right under our noses: it is the rise of carbon dioxide in our oceans! This interactive workshop will explore how ocean acidification occurs and how it is affecting our marine shelled animal friends.

UMaine Cooperative Extension is your doorway to University of Maine expertise. For over 100 years, they've been putting university research to work in homes, businesses, farms, and communities — in every corner of Maine. Their educational efforts focus on the Maine Food System and Positive Youth Development through 4-H programs with a focus on the STEM disciplines. They are part of the nationwide Cooperative Extension System, which works through the land-grant universities in each U.S. state.

This event is free and co-sponsored by the library and UMaine Cooperative Extension. For more information, contact Youth Services Librarian Claire at claire.malina@bhpl.net or call 374-5515.
