Traveling Ocean Touch Tank

Traveling Ocean Touch Tank In-Person

Kids ages 5 and up are invited to an interactive program on ocean life with a touch tank on Wednesday, July 30 from 3:30-4:30 PM.  The University of Maine Touch Tank Program is a fun, hands-on way for kids to explore Maine’s amazing ocean life! This traveling touch tank brings real sea creatures right to your community, giving you a chance to see, touch, and learn about the animals that call Maine’s coast home. Through exciting activities, you’ll discover how these creatures live, why they’re important, and how we can help take care of our oceans for the future!

UMaine Cooperative Extension is your doorway to University of Maine expertise. For over 100 years, they've been putting university research to work in homes, businesses, farms, and communities — in every corner of Maine. Their educational efforts focus on the Maine Food System and Positive Youth Development through 4-H programs with a focus on the STEM disciplines. They are part of the nationwide Cooperative Extension System, which works through the land-grant universities in each U.S. state.

The workshop is free but space is limited so participants are asked to register for this event using the library’s interactive calendar or by calling 374-5515.  Registration opens four weeks prior to the event on Wednesday, July 2nd.  For more information, contact Youth Services Librarian Claire at claire.malina@bhpl.net or call 374-5515.
