How Healthy is Your Generous? with Ashley David, MFA/PhD

How Healthy is Your Generous? with Ashley David, MFA/PhD In-Person

The library is sponsoring a talk with Ashley David, MFA/PhD on sustainable and healthy generosity on Thursday, July 10 at 7:00 PM.

Our lives are punctuated by check-ups—physical, psychological, financial. Additionally, most of us spend a great deal of time running around to doctors, dentists, and veterinarians to help those we love get checked up, too. Even our cars have regular checks! But, how many of us pause to evaluate and check the status of our generosity?

How Healthy Is Your Generous?
For millennia, generosity has provided the glue to bond people and groups across space and time. Today, it’s one vital way we choose to give our lives meaning, and it structures many aspects of our communities. It’s surprising then, that our generosity practice—what we do, how we do it, and the values that inform it—tend to fly under the radar as unexamined and automatic. It’s just something we do, have always done. Worse, unexamined generosity can lead to disillusionment, burnout, and inequity…and often, it does.

Enter the Generosity Check-up!
This interactive talk guides you through a process to recognize, evaluate, and honor how you do generosity. We’ll take a look at your everyday practices and dive into underlying values and principles. We’ll pave the way for ongoing and sustainable generosity that serves you, those you love, our community, and the world at large, with conscious and healthy intention. This discussion is geared to adults, but precocious young thinkers and idealists are most welcome!
