Saturday Matinee Creature Feature: 'The Creature from the Black Lagoon'

Saturday Matinee Creature Feature: 'The Creature from the Black Lagoon' In-Person

All are welcome to the library for a movie matinee on Saturday, March 15 at 1:00 p.m in the Howard Room. The library will be showing Jack Arnold's 1954 classic, The Creature from the Black Lagoon. As we're getting settled in, we'll play a short "newsreel" before the feature film of local historical clips of interest, preserved and made accessible by Northeast Historic Film, and selected by our own Shannon Martin. Popcorn, tea, and coffee will be available for movie-viewing accompaniment.

"Perfectly blending Universal's classic monster heritage with the science-fiction explosion of the 1950s, Creature from the Black Lagoon tells the mythical story of a dangerous half-human, half-fish creature lurking in the depths of the Amazon. After discovering a unique prehistoric claw fossil on an expedition deep in the jungle, archeologists investigate its origins which lead them directly to a mysterious creature. Led by marine life specialist David Reed (Richard Carlson), the men try to capture the monster who has become obsessed with David's assistant, Kay (Julia Adams)." (Amazon). Runtime: 1 hr 19 min, Rated G.

This program is free and sponsored by the library thanks to the generosity of the Friends of the Library. If you have any questions, contact Olivia at oliviaz@bhpl.net or call the library at 374-5515.
