Documentary Screening: 'Ratified' In-Person
The Blue Hill Public Library and Equal Rights Maine are cosponsoring a film screening of the documentary Ratified on Thursday, November 14 at 7PM in the library’s Howard Room. The film’s runtime is 1 hour and 20 minutes, and will be followed by a short Q&A. Prior to the film screening at 6:30PM, people are invited to join for some light snacks and a small discussion.
Ratified is a documentary about the 100-year struggle for constitutional gender equality: an inspiring story of a multi-racial, multi-generational, bi-partisan effort to make Virginia the 38th and final state to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment. It's also a story of how bureaucracy is used to stifle progress, and it takes a close look at the incredible perseverance of women - specifically, the Black women leaders who have taken their rightful place at the front of the movement for gender equality.
This program is free and open to all. For more information on the event, please email Assistant Director Kayleigh Thomas at kayleigh.thomas[at]bhpl.net, and for more information on Equal Rights Maine, please visit https://equalrightsmaine.org/.
