How to Have the Hard Talk with Your Doctor

How to Have the Hard Talk with Your Doctor In-Person

The Blue Hill Public Library and Hospice Volunteers of Hancock County are cosponsoring a talk on tough conversations with medical professionals with Sam Harrington, retired MD & hospice volunteer on Thursday, September 19 at 10AM.

Have you ever left your doctor’s office or the doctor of a loved one feeling like you didn’t get all the answers you needed to make the best possible decision for you or your loved one? Have you felt like your feelings and questions were being dismissed, and somehow you are just along for the ride in your own care instead of making the best decisions for yourself? Do you truly understand everything about you or your loved one’s illness and the options available?

You may be struggling with these important topics right now, and if not, you may face it in the future. As a retired physician, Sam knows the importance of having these conversations and how to get them started and ensure you have choice in your own life. This will be in a discussion format, so come ready to have some great conversation.

This program is free and open to all and will be held in the library's Howard Room. For more information or questions, please email Assistant Director Kayleigh Thomas at kayleigh.thomas[at]bhpl.net or call the library at 374-5515.
