The Blue Hill Public Library and Blue Hill Books are cosponsoring an author event with Maine author Bruce Pratt on Thursday, June 27 at 7pm. Bruce will be offering readings of his works as part of the launch for the new charity anthology Maine Character Energy.

Maine Character Energy is a charity collection of 11 written works that celebrate Maine’s small towns, rugged wilderness, rocky coasts, and the everyday characters that make the Pine Tree State special. The authors include: Bruce Pratt, Shannon Bowring, Paul Carro, Charlotte Crowder, Cynthia Graae, Karen Menzel (nee Bovenmyer), Mary E. Plouffe, sid sibo, Michelle Soucy, Clif Travers, and Lara Tupper.


Bruce Pratt, award-winning short story writer, poet, playwright, is the author of the novel The Serpents of Blissfull from Mountain State Press, the poetry collection Boreal from Antrim House Books, the short story collection The Trash Detail from New Rivers Press, and the chapbook Forms and Shades from Clare Songbirds Publishing. His fiction, poetry, drama, and essays have appeared in magazines and journals across the United States and in Canada, Ireland, and Wales. Pratt edits American Fiction and is past director of The Northern Writes New Play Festival. He lives in Swanville Maine with his wife, Janet, and his web site is www.bepratt.com.
